The AQUILA necklace features a luminous natural Tanzanite gem, drawing inspiration from the mythical figure Aquila. In Greco-Roman mythology, Aquila represents the eagle that held Zeus’s/Jupiter’s thunderbolts. This majestic eagle is also associated with the tale of Ganymede, a son of one of the kings of Troy—linked to the constellation Aquarius—who was taken to Mount Olympus to serve as the cupbearer to the gods.
In celestial mythology, primarily originating from Roman traditions, Aquila is depicted as the mythological eagle that transported Ganymede to the heavens, symbolizing the connection between the eagle and the constellation Aquarius. It is often envisioned as swooping down toward Aquarius or soaring through the Milky Way to attend to Jove. The reverence for the eagle in ancient Rome was so great that the term “Aquila” (meaning eagle in Latin) was emblazoned on the banners of every Roman legion. The eagle symbolized freedom, beauty, and strength, and was regarded as the “king of the skies” and a messenger of the highest gods.
