The ADONIS RING features a hand-engraved carnelian gem depicting the Greek god Adonis, a symbol of rebirth, seasonal change, vegetation, beauty, and youth. Adonis was a prominent figure in Greek mythology and the mortal lover of the goddesses Aphrodite and Persephone. Renowned for his striking beauty, he was considered the ideal of male attractiveness in classical antiquity. The name “Adonis” derives from a Canaanite word meaning “lord,” and many modern scholars believe the tale of Aphrodite and Adonis is rooted in a Levantine interpretation of the earlier Mesopotamian myth of Inanna.

In addition to Aphrodite, Adonis was also admired by other deities, including Apollo, Heracles, and Dionysus. He was often described as androgynous, embodying both masculine and feminine traits—expressing affection for Aphrodite as a man, yet adopting a more receptive role with Apollo. This androgyny reflects a nuanced understanding of gender roles in classical Greece.

The ADONIS RING is meticulously hand-sculpted by Rafael Indiana, who carves his rings from wax, ensuring that every piece is unique. This artisanal approach contributes to the ring’s authentic ancient beauty, making it a truly special addition to any collection.
