The ROMAN EAGLE brooch is a striking piece set with three Colombian emeralds. This emblematic artifact features the coat of arms of the Imperial Roman Army, represented by the initials SPQR, which stand for “Senatus Populusque Romanus” translating to “The Senate and People of Rome.” This phrase refers to the government of the Roman Republic and appears on public documents, inscriptions in stone or metal, dedications of monuments and public works, and even on some Roman currency.

The Roman Army was one of the most formidable military forces in history, renowned for its training, discipline, and stamina. Its soldiers were justifiably feared, making the army a significant player in Roman politics. Maintaining the loyalty of the army was crucial for any emperor. At its peak, the Roman Army boasted around half a million soldiers, exerting control over a vast empire that stretched from Britain to the Middle East.

This brooch serves as a powerful symbol of imperial royalty and strength. Set with natural emeralds, it embodies the rich symbolism associated with the gemstone. In ancient Greece and Rome, emeralds were linked to Venus, the goddess of love and hope. The SPQR legion also believed they represented eternal life. Making it a powerful talisman protecting them from death during war.

Meticulously hand-sculpted, each brooch is carved from wax by Rafael Indiana, ensuring that every piece is unique.
